Ingredients

Chicken soup base
  • 1.5 lb chicken breast
  • 4 carrots
  • 3 celery
  • 1 onion
  • 6 garlic
  • 2 tbsp fresh ginger
  • 8 cup chicken bone broth
  • 2 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp black pepper Using black pepper helps activate curcumin.
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 0.25 tsp cinnamon
  • 0.25 tsp cayenne
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 8 oz egg noodles or rice noodles Choose egg noodles or rice noodles.
  • 0.01 salt to taste
  • 1 fresh parsley and lemon wedges for serving

Equipment

  • 1 Dutch oven

Method

Simmer the broth
  1. Add chicken breast, carrots, celery, onion, garlic, ginger, turmeric, black pepper, thyme, cinnamon, cayenne, and chicken bone broth to a Dutch oven. Bring to a simmer over medium-high, then reduce to maintain a gentle simmer and cook for 20-25 minutes until the chicken is cooked through and vegetables are tender (visual cue: steady small bubbles around the edges).
  2. Turn off the heat and transfer the chicken to a plate; shred it into bite-size pieces, then return the shredded chicken to the pot. The soup should look cohesive and warmly golden as the chicken comes back in.
Cook noodles and finish
  1. Bring the soup back to a simmer, then add egg noodles or rice noodles and cook for 6-8 minutes until tender (visual cue: noodles soften and the broth slightly thickens).
  2. Stir in lemon juice, honey, and apple cider vinegar until evenly combined. Taste the broth and season with salt to taste (visual cue: flavors brighten and the surface looks glossy and well-mixed).
  3. Ladle into bowls and top with fresh parsley, with extra lemon wedges on the side for serving.

Notes

For the best texture, keep the heat at a gentle simmer when cooking the vegetables so they stay tender but not mushy. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days; for best noodle texture, reheat gently and add a splash of broth or water. Freeze soup (without noodles if possible) for up to 2 months, then thaw and simmer; cook fresh noodles when reheating. For a gluten-free option, use rice noodles instead of egg noodles.
